About CrossFit Down Valley | What We Do

What We Do

Are you looking for a change of pace when it comes to your fitness routine?  Something to push your boundaries both physically and mentally?  All the while hanging out with a community of like minded individuals that you will soon come to know and love.  Look no further than CrossFit Down Valley!

Welcome to CrossFit Down Valley.  Our primary objective is to improve your overall health and give you the tools necessary to thrive.  Whether you are young or old, fit or not, we can help you reach your fitness goals.  We focus on movements that help you attain maximum functional fitness.  We use barbells and implement many other training tools such as kettlebells, sandbags, rowers, and jump ropes. Each workout is different from the last to prevent our members from getting bored or burned out.

While CrossFit is known for challenging the worlds most fit athletes the reality is most of us do not "fit" into that category.  That's the beauty of CrossFit.  All workouts are scaled appropriately no matter ones physical ability or strength.  The official CrossFit website says it best:  "The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.

So no matter your age, physical ability, sports history, athleticism, etc.  Non of that matters here.  All we ask is that you show up ready to work to the best or YOUR ability.

The characteristics of our community manifested in our beliefs and aspirations.

At CrossFit Down Valley (CFDV) we pride ourselves on helping people find the best version of themselves while also bringing people together in a supportive, competitive, and welcoming environment. We want you to push yourself to the brink of what you thought was possible. This is where you truly get to know yourself and what you can really accomplish. We don’t care how much you have to scale a workout or if you were the slowest in the class. Our question will always be the same; “did you push yourself?” Each time you step outside your comfort zone, you step a little closer to really finding what you are capable of. This is hard to do without a strong community of peers to support you. You will absolutely find that at CFDV. We are all family here and we would do anything to help you uncover your true potential!

How We Work

CFDV Daily Work Process

Below is a daily snapshot of what you can expect on a regular basis.
While the format stays consistent the actual workouts will vary greatly day to day.

When you arrive at CFDV you will see a complete workout posted on the whiteboard under that respective day. Each day begins with a basic set of warm up exercises. As the name implies, this is meant to get the blood flowing, loosen up the muscles a bit, and specifically compliment whatever the rest of the workout will entail for that day.

Safety and proper instruction is our absolute priority at CrossFit Down Valley. Prior to beginning every workout one of our CFDV certified coaches will review that day's workload start to finish. The coach will review proper and safe lifting techniques, good form vs bad form, movement standards, and how to properly scale each movement.

The strength section of the CrossFit Down Valley daily workout is dedicated to working on a wide range of weight lifting and gymnastics type movements. Typically this means the movement is focused on a specific muscle group and a specific type of lifting such as: deadlift, back/front squat, pull ups, snatch, clean and jerk, push ups, toes-2-bar, etc.

The CrossFit WOD stands for the "Workout of the Day". Every day is a unique workout that might be 5 minutes long or 35 minutes long. What you do on Tuesday vs what you do on Wednesday will be completely different. Daily workouts may include endurance activities, lifting movements, gymnastics movements, and anything else creative!
